Today, the Plaza includes an Eloise store designed by kooky dressmaker Betsey Johnson. It smells like watermelon bubblegum and hosts tea parties for tots. An Eloise Suite, also designed by Johnson, is available for overnight stays. Its draws include a chandelier with pink lights, a zebra-print carpet, a sparkly pink bed, a tea set, and Eloise-themed dolls and apparel. The Edwardian Suite connects to this room for grown-ups who don’t want to get lost in the pink. Like all suites, the Edwardian comes with a butler. Butlers at the Plaza can help with an array of tasks designed to anticipate or meet your needs, from unpacking your bags and drawing you a bath to shining your shoes and caring for dry cleaning.

The lower level of the Plaza includes a stunning food hall that outshines a shopping mall food court at every turn. Indoor benches are made to look as if they’re outside in nature. Dining options include a noodle bar, bakery, lobster station, and pizzeria. Renowned chef Todd English paired with The Plaza to create his own Food Hall at The Plaza. His food hall has nine food stations offering a variety of cuisines. In addition to its lobby and food hall open to the public, The Plaza also features a number of shops. Merchandise includes books, clothing, jewelry, and handbags.

Staying at the Plaza promises luxury and beauty albeit for a hefty price, but New York natives or visitors alike should pop in to its public spaces for a free look at the historic landmark.
